Whether AI lives up to the surrounding expectations will largely depend on good prompt engineering.

Prompt engineering is the key to unlocking useful and usable outputs from generative AI, such as ChatGPT or its image generation counterpart, DALL-E.

These AI tools use natural language processing to take user-written inputs and convert them into desired outputs.

However, as many have experienced, creating inputs that are comprehensive and detailed enough to instruct the AI to fulfill the objective is a time-consuming process to master.

ChatGPT Prompt Engineering (Free Course)

Like any skill, prompt engineering requires practice. And considering how quickly this technology has become popularized, experts are scarce. However, an AI company is currently offering free training.

A short prompt engineering course has been developed in collaboration with OpenAI and is available through the DeepLearning.AI website.

It is taught by Isa Fulford from OpenAI and none other than Andrew Ng, a renowned computer scientist who worked on AI at Google and Baidu before founding DeepLearning.AI.

In just one hour, Ng and Fulford describe best practices in prompt engineering and provide participants with the opportunity to practice with the OpenAI API.

The introductory course is aimed at developers but does not require prior AI experience, only basic knowledge of Python.

And for developers who have already started experimenting with large language models, the course will provide the necessary instructions to build your own chatbot.

The course is currently free, but this offer will only be available for a limited time.
