The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) offers Mexicans and Spanish-speaking individuals residing abroad the opportunity to pursue their high school education through the B@UNAM program.
This program, initiated in 2007 by the UNAM’s Directorate of Distance High School Education, enables students to complete their high school education in their native language from anywhere in the world, provided they have a computer and access to high-speed internet.
The B@UNAM program is characterized by its innovative approach to education, based on interdisciplinary subjects. It consists of 24 subjects organized into four core areas: natural sciences, mathematics, social sciences, and humanities.
These core areas provide a solid foundation not only for higher education but also for life in general, and they are completed over four modules throughout the academic year.
One of the program’s notable advantages is the availability of personalized online guidance provided by specialized teachers in the field of psychopedagogy, ensuring close support for the students.
An important point to highlight is that Spanish-speaking migrants who enroll in this program can complete their high school education free of charge, exempting them from any associated program costs. However, it is essential to note that there is a fee of approximately $20 for the admission examination.
The requirements for enrolling in the program include a high school certification with a minimum grade point average of seven points, properly authenticated by the country where the studies were conducted.
Additionally, a certificate issued by the Ministry of Public Education in Mexico, a birth certificate, proof of residence or domicile, and in the case of Mexican candidates, the CURP are all required.
Interested individuals must have successfully completed preparatory courses, passed the university admission examination, and have access to a computer or mobile device with internet access.
Through this initiative, UNAM continues to promote continuous learning and skill development, offering students the opportunity to advance their education regardless of their geographical location.
