Mental health is a fundamental component of people’s overall well-being. It is the state of balance that allows individuals to think, feel, act, and relate in a healthy manner.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health has gained special relevance, as it has led to an increase in mental disorders such as anxiety and depression.
In this regard, the government of the state of San Luis Potosí, Mexico, has launched a free online course on mental health and emotional support.
The course’s objective is to strengthen knowledge and skills related to mental health in order to enhance and optimize the processes of emotional support.
The call is directed towards two main groups:
- Mental health professionals: medical personnel, nursing staff, psychology and psychotherapy professionals, social workers, and health promoters.
- Community promoters: individuals who work directly with communities in areas with high vulnerability and have experience working with populations in situations of high risk.
Requirements for participation:
- Mental health professionals: must have a professional license or a university degree in the healthcare sector.
- Community promoters: must have experience working with populations in situations of high vulnerability, emotional strengths for providing support to individuals at risk, a strong commitment to community work, and experience in social fabric reconstruction activities.
The course will last for four months, from October 2, 2023, to February 5, 2024.
- Mental health professionals: 18 weekly sessions, 3 learning communities, totaling 50 hours.
- Community promoters: 15 weekly sessions, 3 learning communities, totaling 44 hours.
